Product Description
WB 6 Qt. Versatility Slow Coo
Amazon.com ReviewVersatile and convenient, this 6-quart pot can be used on the stovetop for cooking soup or stew, go into the oven for roasting a chicken or baking a casserole, and placed on its 210-watt heating base for slow-cooking a pot roast or keeping food warm while serving. For serving, the heating base's temperature control has a keep-warm setting. Medium and high settings permit cooking on the base. The oval aluminum pot, colored black like its heating base for contemporary style, has a nonstick interior and measures 12 inches long by 8-1/2 inches wide, ample for a chicken, ham, or roast beef. A lift-out rack is included for keeping food off the bottom so it can be thoroughly browned during roasting. The pot's glass lid permits cooking to be monitored without releasing heat, and the lid's knob stays cool on the stovetop. For easy cleanup, the pot, lid, and rack are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

Customer Reviews
 | | Great slow cooker | September - 01 - 2010 | | | by DLK from Dallas, TX
I did a lot of research before purchasing this slow cooker, and I'm very happy with it. It's lightweight and versatile. I have browned meat on the stovetop, used the base for a grill, and, of course, used it as a slow cooker. When set on high, it does indeed get very hot--things usually come to a boiling point on high, but that works for me when I'm in a hurry (ironic, I know, that I'm in a hurry using a slow cooker). I usually set it between low and medium when I plan on cooking something all day long.
The only complaint I have is that it scratches easily on the bottom when using it on the stovetop. Doesn't affect the performance, though. You also have to use utensils meant for non-stick finishes, or you'll scratch the inside.
| | | | | | Pot warps on stovetop | August - 12 - 2010 | | | by Chauncey Bell from Seattle, WA USA
The slow cooker works very well as a slow cooker. However, one of the main reasons I purchased it was to be able to brown meat, onions, etc. on the stove top and then slow cook the meal for several hours (which makes it much tastier despite what the slowcook manufacturers say). I tried the pot on a gas stove, radiant electric stove, and grill setting of the slow cooker. In all cases the pot warped, so that the only place it touched the stove was in the middle. It even jumped around and made popping sounds, making browning challenging and perhaps dangerous. The pot became flat again once it commenced slow cooking. I spoke at length with customer service and they declined to send me a new pot because it was out of warranty, and said they couldn't assure me that if I bought a new pot it would work any better. Disappointing in many regards!
| | | | | | A True Workhorse! | June - 30 - 2010 | | | by AnonyMouse We bought our first Versatility Slow Cooker in July of 2006. I wanted to make soup, and had a "Secret Diet Plan" in mind for my husband. (And he never suspected a thing! *bwah-hah-hah!*) He *loves* homemade soup. Every time the cooker was empty, I'd wash it and start a new soup. He was in heaven as it was always on hand and ready to dip into. I pointed out that if we got another cooker, he could have his choice of *two* soups at any given time. He eagerly agreed.
Since then, I have made soup (or chili or pasta sauce) every single day, and these amazing cookers have kept up. After 4 years of, literally, daily use, he has lost almost 70 pounds and I have to get a replacement "vessel" (read pot), as the coating started to wear. Other than that (and that's our faults, as each of us will use metal utensiles without thinking)
A feature I *love*: If I want to make a chili with corn fritters, once the soup is done, I take it off the base, turn up the heat, and use the base as a non-stick griddle! Once the fritters are done, I just wipe it, turn down the heat, and replace the soup. Easy!
An excellent product: convenient, easy to clean, versatile, and well-made!
| | | | | | Can't live without it! | Febuary - 13 - 2010 | | | by Gourmet nurse from Minnesota
This is one of the few slow cookers that you can use on the stove top and on the base. The great advantage to this is that you can brown your meat or bring your dish up to a high heat quickly, then put it on the base to cook and forget about it. It doesn't take as long to cook as a crockery pot yet gives you the safety of flameless cooking. The non-stick surface means clean up is a breeze. I use this at least once a week and can't live without it!
